Give your puppy the best possible start with Northside Dog Training's Puppy Preschool. A 6 week small group course running in Brunswick West and Northcote. Designed for puppies aged 8 weeks to 5 months, this is the course to enrol in during your puppy's critical socialisation window, when the foundations of their confidence, behaviour, and relationship with you are being laid. Class sizes are kept deliberately small so every puppy and owner gets personalised attention from nationally accredited trainer Olivia, not a one size fits all lesson.

What Your Puppy Will Learn

The 6 week course covers the foundational skills your puppy needs for a lifetime of good behaviour including:

  • Sit, drop, recall, and settling on a mat

  • Loose leash walking foundations

  • Bite inhibition and reducing mouthing

  • Socialisation with other puppies and people in a safe and controlled environment

  • Building confidence and adaptability across new experiences

    We place a focus on reward-based training to establish new behaviours, and do not apply punishment protocols to puppies. ​​

Understanding Your Puppy, Not Just Training Them

What sets this course apart is the education alongside the training. Puppyhood goes by fast and a lot happens developmentally in those first few months, much of it catching owners completely off guard.

 

Throughout the 6 weeks you'll learn about:

  • Your puppy's developmental milestones - what to expect and when

  • How to read your puppy's body language

  • Why puppies do the things they do (biting, zoomies, resource guarding)

  • How to prevent problem behaviours before they become habits

  • The principles behind teaching new skills, so you can keep training confidently at home

The goal isn't just a puppy that can sit on command. It's an owner who understands their dog well enough to keep building on that foundation for life.
